Canon imageRunner advance 4500 series new design enhancements

The new exterior colours have been selected based on reviews of customer preferences and modern office trends. The fresh colour scheme of elegant damson black and cool titanium white was designed to integrate seamlessly into today’s office environments where trends include brighter spaces with high contrast colour combinations.

The flat control panel, now larger at 25cm, has a smooth adjustable tilt to make it easy for all users to view the screen comfortably. The main feature of this third-generation imageRUNNER ADVANCED platform is the tablet-like interface. Users can swipe left and right, up and down, and even drag and drop on select screens. The user interface and the exterior design are consistent across the imageRUNNER ADVANCE lineup. The function screen layouts are similar to those on the predecessor model, so the navigation menu will feel familiar and simple.

New to the imageRUNNER ADVANCE 4500 series is a single-pass duplexing automatic document feeder (ADF) that has a capacity of up to 150 originals. Designed for environments with heavy scanning requirements the single-pass feeder can scan both sides of a page without reversing the document. This feature allows for scanning up to 160 images per minute. The 51 and 45 ppm models come standard with a single-pass duplexing ADF. The 35 and 25 ppm models can be configured with either the single-pass duplexing ADF, a double-pass duplexing ADF with the capacity of up to 100 originals, or a platen cover, which only allows for scanning documents on the platen glass. Both ADFs include a reminder LED on the original output tray. This light flashes after documents are fed through to remind you to retrieve the originals.

The imageRUNNER advance 4500 series is further enhanced with an original reminder. If the feeder is not opened and closed within 3 seconds after scanning is completed, you’ll be alerted of your forgotten originals by an audible tone and a warning message that appears on the bottom status bar. The volume of this tone can be adjusted by the volume button on the side of the screen. For improved scan and copy quality, the device also comes standard with a cleaning cloth to help keep the platen glass clean. The imageRUNNER ADVANCE 4500 series comes standard with 3 paper sources and a paper capacity of up to 1180 sheets. The addition of the optional high-capacity cassette and paper deck adds up to 5150 sheets for a maximum capacity of 6330 sheets.

On the pre-assessor models, the paper drawers and cassettes were opened with a push button that required a two-step, push and pull motion. The new models feature a handle that only requires a simple pull to open. As with the pre-assessor models, easy-to-use guides make it simple to change paper and the device can automatically recognise the size of the loaded paper. the multipurpose tray on the new models has been improved to include auto-size detection, eliminating the need to register standard paper sizes when they are placed in the tray. In addition, when paper runs out, there is no need to reregister the size when reloading the same stock, simply reload the paper and restart by pressing the OK button on the confirmation screen.

The motion sensor was designed to reduce the perceived waiting time to recover from sleep mode. The device is able to detect when you are approaching to recover from sleep mode accordingly, likewise, it can detect when you’re finished using the device to return to sleep mode. The sensitivity settings are available to suit varying operating environments or the motion sensor can be turned off entirely.

The imageRUNNER ADVANCE 4500 series includes live-action on-screen demonstrations of how to replace toner and staple cartridges as well as how to clean the platen glass. It also features animations on how to clear a paper jam.

The remote operators kit comes standard with these models. This allows you to operate various functions remotely from a networked PC by emulating the interface on the PC screen. This is helpful with remote maintenance, help desk support, demonstrations, and improved accessibility.
